Balanced Literacy is a program that incorporates all parts of language arts. In a true Balanced Literacy model, there are equal parts of the literacy block for Reader’s Workshop, Writing, Word Work/Grammar, and Reading Instruction. We are excited to introduce all grade levels to the Balanced Literacy program at Eastover this year.

Please read this letter from Literacy Facilitator, Judy Valle, to address specific questions about the program.
Also, check out this presentation Mrs. Valle gave on Balanced Literacy at the May 2012 PTA meeting to answer any other questions you may have.

Media Center

Eastover's Media Center has over 11,000 books - that's more books than our neighborhood branch library!
What does that mean for you? A fantastic library in your very own backyard. Parents are welcome to open their own library account and check out books for their children. Mrs. O'Neal is available to check out books from 8:00 a.m. - 8:25 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. each day, and from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Thursdays. You may also browse for books online through our Eastover's school website. Click here to take a tour of the library or browse our online catalog. You may search by topic or a specific title and make a request for the book. What a great way to find the perfect book for your child!
